About Access

ACCESS INC

OPENING DOORS

Access Inc is a not-for-profit organization working to help integrate Jewish people with disabilities into the fabric of the Melbourne Jewish community.

The organization was formed in 1989 by a number of concerned parents of disabled children and adults who wanted to create a more satisfying and integrated life for their children in the community.

Access Inc has a strong vision of including people with disabilities into communal life for the enrichment of everyone. It works to promote community awareness and knowledge about disability and fulfils an important advocacy role.  It also provides an invaluable resource and support network for people with disabilities.

Access fundraising is a small group of people who raise money in order to help these visions become a reality. 100% of all funds raised goes into helping pay for:

o      Weekly drumming program, which involves 20 - 30 people. Ages range from 10 - 60. This is a very successful weekly.

o      Last November Access Fundraising organized its very first 3 day horse riding camp which was so successful, it has now become an annual event. Children and adults with disabilities were able to enjoy the pleasure of riding horses, experiencing farm life and its other animals independently from their families. This camp also gave the parents well deserved time out.

o      Access Fundraising are always on the look out to enrich the lives of people with disabilities and are constantly coming up with different events. We have had a picnic in the park with entertainment and food, we have put on a disco at St.Kilda Shule and will continue to raise funds in order to enrich the lives of our friends.

o      Life Skills/Employment program.
